Basic Choice Homeowners Insurance Option

Policyholder Information

When saving money is a priority, consider Basic Choice, a named perils policy that provides a more affordable Florida home insurance option compared to traditional homeowner’s insurance. Basic Choice offers the core coverage you need while lowering your overall home insurance costs and satisfying most mortgage requirements.

Insuring Your Home

Basic Choice is designed to protect your home from major loss and includes coverage for fire, smoke, lightning, windstorm and hail.

Optional Coverage is available to add to your policy. For Owner-Occupied Properties, People’s Trust offers optional coverage of Personal Property Replacement Cost (PPRC) for contents, along with liability coverage of up to $300,000. Other coverage may be available upon request.

  • A property used as a private residence by the homeowner
  • Tenant-occupied property

A Basic Choice Policy may not be issued to:

  • An Irrevocable Trust
  • Land Trust

Basic Choice is available to properties both currently occupied by the owner of the property or a non-owner, with options to exclude Liability or Medical Payment coverage. Properties that are occupied by someone other than the owner are subject to the following requirements:

  • Minimum 12 month lease
  • When the insurance is purchased, the tenant must be living in the home.
