National Hurricane Preparedness Week runs from May 6 - 12. As insurance professionals living and working in Florida, we all know that preparing for hurricane season ahead of time is absolutely essential.
Experts are calling for a below-normal hurricane season, as potential El Niño conditions (characterized by warmer-than-normal ocean water temperatures in the Pacific Ocean near the equator) may limit the development of storms. AccuWeather meteorologists are predicting 10 named storms, five of which are projected to become hurricanes and three of which may become major hurricanes. But as the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) warns, “It only takes one storm to change your life and community.”
