To start, you should thoroughly clean your lint trap filter and the location of where it stays. Remove your lint trap filter and clear it of any lint, as you usually do after each dryer load, and if you don’t, now you know you should. While the lint trap is still out, vacuum the location where it normally goes into. You can use a long, skinny hose attachment to be able to reach the location. Continue to do this until there is no more lint; you may need to do this multiple times.
Now you may be in disbelief at how much lint you have already cleaned up. However, the dryer duct holds even more lint.
Begin by disconnecting your dryer to be able to access the duct. Unplug the dryer’s power cord from the wall. Then disconnect the duct closest to the dryer and gently pull apart the dryer from the wall.
Now that you have complete access to the duct, it’s cleaning time. You can use a long brush for this. To get a proper cleaning effect, you can purchase a vent cleaning kit at Home Depot. Now you stick the brush end into the duct and spin the brush aggressively. Push your brush as far down as possible to empty as much lint as possible. You may need to do this multiple times. Once all the lint is cleaned up, put everything back to where it was.
Now you have a better working dryer and a safer household!
