Important 2015 Recalls Every Homeowner Should Know About

The start of 2015 is an opportune time to check up on the latest recalls to ensure the products your family is using are safe.

Keep your home safe in 2015 by reviewing the following recent product recalls that could impact you and your family.

KeurigCoffeemaker800Keurig® MINI Plus Brewing Systems

Sale Dates: December 2009 through December 2014

Hazard: Water can overheat during brewing, spray out and burn consumers.

Remedy: Consumers should contact Keurig for a free repair. While waiting for a free repair, consumers can contact Keurig about steps to avoid a burn injury.

Sale Dates: February 2011 to December 2011

Hazard: The AC power cord can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately unplug and stop using the recalled power cords and contact Lenovo for a free replacement. Consumers can continue to use the computer on battery power.

Both Meter Breakers_LARGEEaton Electrical Residential Meter Breakers

Sale Dates:  July 2014 through August 2014

Hazard: The meter breaker’s electrical components can be easily accessed, posing a shock hazard to consumers.

Remedy: Only qualified electrical contractors should repair the product, and consumers should not open the meter breaker’s enclosure. Electrical contractors should immediately contact their meter breaker distributor to determine if any of their units are included in this recall. Contractors will receive a free remedy kit. Consumers should contact Eaton or the electrical contractor that installed the recalled meter breaker for the free installation of the repair kit.

Air PurifierLARGEDaikin Streamer Air Purifiers

Sale Dates: December 2010 through October 2014

Hazard: The air purifier’s circuit board can overheat and cause the air purifier to catch on fire.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately unplug the recalled air purifiers and contact Daikin for a full refund or a free replacement air purifier.

Sale Dates: January 2013 to April 2014

Hazard: The steering control arm component can break under normal use, causing driver to lose control and crash.

Remedy: Mower should be returned to the dealer where it was purchased for free repair with a newly designed control arm component. Consumers who completed the warranty registration card were contacted directly by Schiller Grounds Care, Inc., with instructions for obtaining the repair.

Sale Dates: August 2013 through September 2014

Hazard: The large rugs fail to meet federal standards for flammability and could ignite, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers. The small rugs fail to meet federal labeling requirements. Small rugs are not required to meet the federal flammability standard; however, they are required to be permanently labeled with the following statement:


Remedy: Consumers should contact Mohawk to receive a refund for the large rugs and a warning label to be affixed to the underside of the small rugs.

Hazard: The play yard’s rails can collapse, presenting a strangulation hazard to young children.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled play yards and contact Dream On Me to receive a free repair kit.

Hazard: The lock mechanism on the optional knife blade can inadvertently release the blade, posing a laceration hazard.

Remedy: Consumers should not install the optional knife blade. If already installed, immediately stop using the multi-tool and contact Leatherman for a free replacement multi-tool (shipping is included).

Hazard: The folding hinge on the sides of the stroller can pinch a child’s finger, posing a laceration or amputation hazard.

Remedy: Contact Graco immediately for a free repair kit. While waiting for a repair kit, caregivers should exercise extreme care when unfolding the stroller to be certain that the hinges are firmly locked before placing a child in the stroller. Caregivers are advised to immediately remove the child from a stroller that begins to fold to keep their fingers from the side hinge area.
