George De Heer
Chief Financial Officer
George De Heer is a C-level finance and accounting professional with substantial expertise specific to the Florida homeowner’s insurance market. He serves as the Chief Financial Officer for People’s Trust Insurance and is a member of the company’s Executive Committee.
As CFO, De Heer brings more than 25 years of management and leadership experience in the insurance industry to the organization. He is responsible for continuing to build on the company’s solid foundation of financial strength, ensuring long-term sustainability and securing strong reinsurance partnerships, as well as managing accounting and financial reporting processes.
De Heer brings with him extensive experience within the Property and Casualty lines of business. Prior to joining People’s Trust, De Heer served as Vice President of Finance and then Chief Financial Officer at a large, publicly traded home insurance carrier based in Florida, where he worked for eight years leading and developing a cohesive and efficient accounting and financial team, during which time the company experienced significant growth.
Previously, De Heer was Vice President, Finance and Controller for an auto insurance carrier, and was instrumental in developing Sarbanes-Oxley internal control documentation and remediation plans during his fifteen-year tenure. He also managed GAAP and SEC financial reporting and coordinated the annual audits and quarterly reviews by the company’s independent auditor. De Heer also played a significant role in the company’s initial public offering.
De Heer is a renowned financial strategist with a wealth of experience in both the public and private sectors – especially in the Florida market, and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from Lewis University in Romeoville, IL. Following college, he began his career working for a certified public accounting firm based in Chicago.
